About Our Village
Worleston and District comprises of the village of Worleston and surrounding Parish including Reaseheath, plus the hamlets and Parishes of Poole and Aston Juxta Mondrum.
More or less equidistant from the historic Elizabethan market town of Nantwich and the larger industrial centre of Crewe, Worleston is a parish consistent with the rural nature of much of this part of South Cheshire. At the 2011 census the total population was 744 persons.
The village of Worleston serves the Parish and surrounding area via a number of amenities and services. There is a thriving post office/bakery and a village pub, the Royal Oak. In addition Worleston is home to Rookery Hall, an internationally known spa and hotel, and a frequent venue for celebrity weddings and functions. The latest addition to the village is a new Lottery funded village hall which is proving popular with local groups and business for functions, meetings etc.
St Oswald’s Primary School is an OFSTED award winning primary school, offering education from pre-school to 11 years old and a school roll approaching 100. Nearby, St Oswald’s Church, a quaint Grade 2 listed building, offers Anglican worship as part of the Diocese of Chester. In Poole there is also a small Methodist chapel. Our local authority is the unitary authority of Cheshire East and Worleston is in the parliamentary constituency of Eddisbury.
On our southern boundary, the parish has Reaseheath College, a visionary educational complex offering post-16 up to degree level qualifications, specialising in cutting edge food technology and land based studies with over 1600 full and part time staff. A recent partnership with the University of Chester has further broadened the opportunities that the College can offer in the future.
Visitors to our Parishes can also take advantage of two marinas on our immediate northern boundary at Church Minshull and Cholmondeston, Snugburys Ice Cream Centre to the west plus all the bars, restaurants and shops in Nantwich.
